Calender Maths Challenge

L.I to find the most efficient strategy to solve the problem

This week for maths we solved a problem about the school selling calendars. Each calendar cost 12 dollars and there were 149 calendars sold, but the school had to pay the calendar making company 6 dollars and 90 cents. We figured out how much money the school would make from selling 149 calendars. The strategies I used were subtraction to subtract 6 dollars 90 cents which would go to the calendar making company and multiplication to multiply 5 dollars 10 cents (Which is the answer to 12 dollars - 6 dollars 90 cents) by the amount of calendars sold which is 149 to get the answer.
