Kiwi sport

L.I to learn how to serve in volleyball

This week for Kiwi sport we learnt how to serve in volleyball. First we went over the last skill we learnt which was setting. After that our coach taught us how to do the under- arm serve and the over- arm serve. For the under- arm serve we had to keep the palm of our hand open and hold the ball with the other hand, then we threw the ball in the air and hit it with the other hand and hit it from the bottom. For the over- arm serve we had the same open palm just hitting from the top to the bottom, this the time our other hand with the ball was higher. This allowed us to hit the ball straight instead of hitting it up and for the ball to come back down again.

Calender Maths Challenge

L.I to find the most efficient strategy to solve the problem

This week for maths we solved a problem about the school selling calendars. Each calendar cost 12 dollars and there were 149 calendars sold, but the school had to pay the calendar making company 6 dollars and 90 cents. We figured out how much money the school would make from selling 149 calendars. The strategies I used were subtraction to subtract 6 dollars 90 cents which would go to the calendar making company and multiplication to multiply 5 dollars 10 cents (Which is the answer to 12 dollars - 6 dollars 90 cents) by the amount of calendars sold which is 149 to get the answer.

Subway Maths DLO

L.I to use the most efficient strategy to solve the problem

This week for maths we solved a maths problem about Subway sandwich combos. We had to find out how much it would cost the school to buy these sandwiches for the classes and what the total amount would be. There were four different sandwich combos, a beef, chicken, ham and veggie combo, all of these combos cost 7 dollars exept for the chicken combo which cost 50 cents extra. The strategies I used were multiplication to find out how much it would cost to buy sandwiches for each class and addition to find out the total about the school would have to spend to buy the sandwiches for all of the classes.

L.I to make dinner for you family

I made dinner for my family, the dish I made was Fish curry on rice. Fish curry is a traditional Indian dish and is very delicious when done right, the curry took about 45 minutes to make. Some of the ingredients were mustard seeds, onions, fish, masala, turmeric, tamarind and fish. The fish I used was snapper. Here are the steps I used to make this dish: First you add the onions and mustard seeds into the pot with oil. After that add fish, masala, turmeric and chili powder. Then add water and leave to cook until it starts boiling. When the water starts boiling add tamarind, tomatoes and coriander, leave it for 2 -3 more minutes and its ready to eat.
