Summer haiku

 For this activity we created a haiku poem about summer, a haiku is a Japanese style of poetry discovered in the 17th century. This type of poem has three lines of 5, 7 and five syllables, one of the four founders of the haiku poem was poet Matsuo Basho.

    Ka pai - you have done a great job on your summer haiku! I’m really impressed by how perfectly you arranged the syllables, and how summery your poem is. I like the line “never running out of fun,” because there is always cool stuff to do during the holidays. What are your favourite summer activities that keep you busy? Mine are kayaking, swimming, and bush walks!

    I think it is so awesome that you’ve included some background information about the history of haiku. I had no idea that there were four founders of haiku poetry, so thank you for teaching me something new!
