Happiness

LI: To edit our writing using DRAFT

This week for writing we wrote abstract noun poems in pairs. An abstract noun is something that exists but cannot be touched. Our abstract noun poem was about happiness. An abstract noun includes the 5 senses (Touch/ feel, taste, hear, see and smell), punctuation ( Capital letters, .), complex sentences, metaphors and similes After we finished writing our poems we used the DRAFT (Delete, Rearrange, Add, Fix, Talk)  process to check our poem, with draft we can make correct errors in our writing.

Forming an opinion

 LI: To consider both perspectives

For this task we chose one of the seven places  Maori in legends and looked at the evidence for the stories being real or not. After we have looked at the evidence we as a group were tasked to form an opinion about the place and if we think if the stories are real or not.

Venn Diagram

LI: To find as many similarities and differences as you can between the video and the text of “The Beginning”.

For this task we compared the text “The beginning” and the video of rangi and papa’s story on a venn diagram. A Venn Diagram is used to show the similarities and differences between two or more things, the parts of the circle that overlap the other are for writing similarities and the parts that do not overlap are for writing the differences between the two things.

This week for tech we played rock paper scissors on the microbit. FIrst we had to code the microbit which is on the DLO. Once you have downloaded the code you have to shake the microbit and it will choose a random number bwetween 1 and 3. I have to make a variable called handand set this to the random number.
If the number is 1 the microbit the symbol for paper. If the number is 2 the microbit will the symbol for rock. If the number is 3 the microbit will show the symbol for scissors.

Failure

L.I to write an abstract noun senses poem

Abstract nouns are nouns you can feel but can’t physically feel/ see, smell, taste, hear and feel. For example: Happiness is the key to my heart. A metaphor is descrigbing someting without using like or as. To write the poem we used the 5 senses which are Hearing, Smelling, Feeling, Tasting and Seeing.
