Reading

For reading we made a summary  about the treaty of Waitangi using key about ten. In the summary we wrote what the treaty is and who was involved in it. Our summary starts at the signing of the treaty to the New Zealand wars

The Treaty of Waitangi is an important part of New Zealand's history. The treaty was to let the British live in NZ without having any conflict towards the Maori. The Maori also wanted to have full ownership of their lands and resources. The two versions (Te Reo Maori and English) were very different though, so they had problems. In the Te Reo Maori version they would get to keep their land and do whatever they wanted themselves. In the English treaty it was written that the crown would make the rules for the people to follow. After the treaty was signed, the Maori people felt cheated on and a conflict began between the two nations. That conflict was called the war of New Zealand.

Tech

oday at tech the year sevens did robotics, we learned about algorithm’s. Algorithms are a set of instructions. Our teacher for robotics is Ms. Ferguson. We had been given an Mbot which is a robot to give instructions to using our chromebooks.

Kiwi Can

Writing

L.I to structure and write and explanation

For writing we looked at explanations. An explanation is how or why something is thew way it is. The structure of an explanation is TIIC which stands for Title, Introduction, Information and Conclusion. Our explanation was about plastic pollution and how it effects our marine life.

Why plastic pollution is
a problem for our coastlines

Did you know plastic pollution is a big problem to our ocean and marine life? Plastic pollution is taking over our coastlines. Plastic pollution is an environmental issue that affects our ocean, marine life and land. Many of our oceans are polluted with plastic. Think about Thailand, their oceans are so polluted that it changed from normal looking water to pitch black.

When the plastic washes up into the water, seabirds and marine animals mistake it for food. They also get caught up in plastic and the rubbish which ends up deforming the marine animals. There are pictures of turtles who’s shells have been deformed because they have been caught up in the plastic. Do you feel good about that?

When you litter your rubbish it goes to the water system and leads to the ocean. It gets washed up on our coastlines. Then it degrades into small pieces of plastic that get washed into the ocean. Seabirds and marine animals mistake it for food or get caught up in the plastic who then get deformed.

If you see a piece of plastic just take some time to pick it up and put it in the bin. A small action could make a big change. So use the rubbish bin.

National current events

Today we created a map DLO that shows current events around New Zealand. We have 6 national current events in New Zealand. The article we found most interesting, Ardie Savea being banned on Tik Tok. He was banned  from his doctor for dancing when he was supposed to be in bed resting because of his knee. The most shocking article was Southland flooding. Lukah, Acien, Vayan, Afatia, Liletina, Azatulah and I worked as a team to complete this activity.
