Kiwi Can / positive communication.

L.I to be a active listener and communicator.

This week for Kiwi Can we focused on being an active listener. We did this by playing two games that reacquired this skill. The first game we played was called remote control, in this game we had six of the remote controls which were pause, play, stop, rewind, fast forward and slow motion. After that we had a talk about active listening, what it meant and why you must that skill.

Later we played a game called Chop Sui Salute, this game also needed a lot of listening because Mr. Alapati only called numbers that he taught us that meant the moves that we have to do and the best part is that I was the champion of the game which was great.

The number 50

LI: to think flexibly about numbers

This week for maths we each picked a number between 10 and 100. My group choose the number 50, we choose this because it the middle number so there would be a lot of facts about it. We did mathematical facts and problems about the number 50 and also non mathematical facts about the number 50.

Reading fire

L.I to comprehend texts using a variety of strategies.

This week for reading we did  slide, google maps and we also did a poster. It was about the massive bush fire in Wakefeild New Zealand that has caught the eye of the of many international media. The slide we did was about the bush fire, main ideas, summery and our questions. The poster was about info about the fire and the fire hazards, which tell us if we can or cannot start a open fire in New Zealand. Lastly the map showed Wakefield (where the fire started) and four other regions in the country that have a orange or red fire hazard.

Basics of Ki o rahi

L.I to learn the basics of Ki o rahi.

Today for Kiwi sport we learned the basics of Ki o rahi, it is a game created way back in the day be the Maori people so there would be no violence. First we split up into teams called Taniwha and Kiona . The first game we played was Taniwha vs Kiona, in that game our coach Shanice called one of the teams name and they had to run to safety in order to win. Then we started playing a game called eight pass which was one of the important games because they were similar games, in that game we had to pass the ball to our teammates eight times in order to score a point.

Kiwi Can

L.I to the first week of Kiwi Can.

Today we went to Kiwi Can, it was the first session of the year. First we played our energizer, the name of the game was eyes up eyes down. In this energizer on of the Kiwi Can leaders say eyes up, eyes down, down means that you look down and up means you look at another person that is not making eye contact with you or you and the person looking at you will be out.

After that we talked about the rules that we need to follow in Kiwi Can to keep ourselves safe. Then it was activity time, the first one was midnight tunnels, in this game we were split into groups of three and were numbered one to three. The kiwi Can leaders called out numbers from one two three, and that person that to run around the circle and the last person to go to the center his or her's team are out.

The last game we played was jockey's up, for that game we got into a duos, when the leaders say jockey's up we had to go around our partner and then run around the circle and return to your partner , the last on to their partner was out. Lastly we did GKQ's.
